Bryan Barlow


 

Deputy Commissioner Bryan Barlow is a lifelong Alaskan who has nearly 23 years of law enforcement experience, all of which is with the Alaska Department of Public Safety in the Divisions of State Troopers and Wildlife Troopers. He most recently served as the Director of the Alaska State Troopers from 2020 - 2022.  After growing up in southcentral Alaska and graduating from Bettye Davis East Anchorage High School in Anchorage he became a United State Marine serving one tour of duty which included assignments in the continental United States and abroad.   

 

In 1994 he returned to Alaska and ventured into self-employment as a small business owner until 1999 when he was hired as an Alaska State Trooper recruit. Over the next two decades DC Barlow served across the state in eleven different assignments including urban and rural patrol, investigations, and numerous supervisory and administrative postings.  While fulfilling his core duties he was also assigned a multitude of additional duties to include department fixed wing pilot, Special Emergency Reaction Team member, Crisis Negotiator Team member and statewide coordinator, Firearms Instructor, Ethics Instructor, Less Lethal Instructor. DC Barlow has studied within the University of Alaska system and is a graduate of the University of Louisville, Department of Criminal Justice Administrative Officers Course.  DC Barlow holds an Advanced Police Certificate from the State of Alaska and is a graduate of the FBI National Executive Institute.
